Privacy Policy

Last updated:

Roleyome (“this site”, “we”) takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we handle when you use the English pages of this site (the pages under /en/), why, and what choices you have. It is written to meet Japanese law and the general expectations of visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and the United States.

1. Who we are

This site is run by two individuals in Japan (see About). To protect our privacy we do not publish our names or address here. For the purposes of data protection law we are the controller of the information described below. Where the law requires it, we will disclose the operator's name and address on request through the contact below.

2. What we collect

  • Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write.
  • Usage data (only if you accept analytics cookies). We use Google Analytics to see which pages are useful. It records things like the pages you view, the device and browser type, the approximate location (country or region) and how you arrived. We do not use it to identify you.
  • Server logs. Our hosting providers keep technical logs (such as IP address, time and requested page) for security and reliability.
  • Your settings. We store your choices on this site (the currency you select and your cookie choice) in your browser's local storage. This stays on your device.

We do not ask for, and do not collect, payment information. We do not run accounts or logins on the English pages.

3. Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • To answer your messages and corrections (legitimate interests, or taking steps at your request).
  • To understand how the site is used and improve it (analytics cookies: your consent).
  • To keep the site secure and working (legitimate interests).
  • To remember your currency and cookie choices (necessary for the feature you asked for).

We do not use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

4. Cookies and your choice

When you first visit, a notice asks whether to allow analytics cookies. Until you accept, analytics runs without cookies or advertising identifiers. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also use Google's opt-out tools. If you decline, the site works the same way.

5. Affiliate links and other sites

Some links are affiliate links. If you click one, the partner's website (or its affiliate network) may set its own cookies and collect information so that it can credit us. That happens on their site, under their privacy policy, which we encourage you to read. We do not receive your personal information from them.

6. Who processes your information

We use service providers to host the site, store data and measure usage (including Google). They process information only to provide those services to us. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with anyone else, except where the law requires it.

7. International transfers

We are in Japan, and our providers may process information in Japan, the United States and other countries. Where the law requires safeguards for transfers out of your country, we rely on the protections our providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions.

8. How long we keep it

We keep messages only as long as needed to deal with them and for a reasonable period afterwards. Analytics data is kept for a limited period set in our analytics account and then deleted. Server logs are kept for a short period by our hosting providers.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your personal information, to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to its use, to receive a copy of it, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to your data protection authority. Residents of California and other US states may also have rights to know, delete and correct, and to opt out of sale or sharing; we do not sell or share personal information for advertising. Under Japanese law you may request disclosure, correction and suspension of use of the personal data we hold. To make a request, email info@roleyome.com. We may need to confirm that the request is yours, and we will respond as the law requires.

10. Children

This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the law or the site changes. The new version applies from the date it is posted here, shown at the top of the page. If a change is significant, we will say so on this page.

12. Contact
